Personnel Commission
The Personnel Commission is an independent body established to ensure fair and equitable employment practices within the classified service of the district. Operating under the principles of merit and fitness as outlined in California’s Education Code, the Commission is responsible for maintaining a merit-based personnel system that promotes efficiency and effectiveness in classified staffing.
Each of the three Commissioners represents a distinct perspective to ensure balance and fairness:
- District-Appointed Commissioner – Selected by the Board of Education, this Commissioner represents the interests of the school district and helps ensure the classified personnel system supports the district’s operational goals.
- Employee-Appointed Commissioner – Chosen by the classified employees or their exclusive representative, this Commissioner serves as the voice of the classified workforce, helping to protect employee rights and promote equitable employment practices.
- Joint-Appointed Commissioner – Agreed upon by both the District and the classified employees’ representative, this Commissioner acts as a neutral party, bringing a balanced perspective to the Commission’s deliberations and decisions.
Together, the three Commissioners work collaboratively to uphold the principles of merit, fairness, and transparency in all aspects of the classified personnel system.
