Where Today's Learners Become Tomorrow's Leaders

Welcome WINGS Families!

My name is Mrs. Phoenix Pineda, and I am excited to welcome you to another wonderful year in the W.I.N.G.S. After School Program! Whether your family is returning or joining us for the first time, we are thrilled to have you as part of our WINGS family.

At W.I.N.G.S., we believe that learning doesn't end when the school day does. Our program provides a safe, caring, and engaging environment where students can continue to learn, explore, and grow. Through academic support, enrichment activities, creative projects, physical fitness, and opportunities to build meaningful friendships, we strive to make every afternoon both productive and fun.

Our dedicated W.I.N.G.S. staff is committed to supporting the whole child by fostering confidence, curiosity, responsibility, and kindness. We encourage students to challenge themselves, discover new interests, and develop important life skills while enjoying a variety of hands-on learning experiences.

We know that strong partnerships with families are essential to student success. Thank you for entrusting us with your children each afternoon and for your continued support of the W.I.N.G.S. program. By working together, we can help every student feel connected, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.

We look forward to creating lasting memories, celebrating accomplishments, and making this an exciting and successful year for all of our W.I.N.G.S. students.

Thank you for being a part of the WINGS family. We can't wait to welcome your child and begin another amazing year of learning, growth, and fun!

The Savanna School District’s WINGS Expanded Learning Opportunities Program, which stands for Wonder • Inspire • Nurture • Grow • Succeed, provides students with a safe, engaging, and enriching environment after school until 6:00 p.m. at each of our four elementary schools. During these important after-school hours, WINGS offers meaningful opportunities for students to learn, explore, create, and connect.

Designed to support the whole child, the program provides a balanced experience that includes academic support, enrichment opportunities, physical activity, and social-emotional development. Students have dedicated homework time each day, where caring group leaders provide assistance and ensure access to technology needed for web-based assignments. By helping students complete assignments before heading home, WINGS supports both student success and busy family schedules.

What truly makes WINGS special is the incredible variety of opportunities available to students. Through partnerships with local cities, community organizations, and nonprofit agencies, students gain access to experiences that extend learning far beyond the classroom. Our partnership with the TGR Learning Lab expands STEM learning through hands-on activities that inspire innovation, problem-solving, and creativity. Students also benefit from opportunities offered through the City of Buena Park, including swim lessons, Tae Kwon Do, and outdoor recreation experiences that promote healthy lifestyles and personal growth.

The arts play an important role in the WINGS experience as well. Through our partnership with the Pacific Symphony, students have the opportunity to learn string instruments and develop their musical talents. Students can also participate in choral activities, visual arts, theatre experiences, and our popular weekly cooking club, led by Savanna staff members who share their passion for healthy cooking, nutrition, and creativity in the kitchen.

Students interested in STEM can explore coding, robotics, engineering challenges, 3D design, and technology-based learning experiences that encourage creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. Through hands-on projects and engaging activities, students develop critical thinking skills while discovering how science, technology, engineering, and mathematics connect to the world around them.

WINGS also provides students with access to a wide variety of athletic opportunities. Through skill-building clinics, recreational activities, and organized competitions, students develop teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence while staying active. School teams participate on District-wide intramural teams and competitions in volleyball, soccer, kickball, and e-sports, creating exciting opportunities for students to represent their schools and build lasting friendships.

To support student wellness, an after-school snack is provided daily, and all students are offered a free supper each afternoon.

At its heart, WINGS is about creating opportunities. The program helps ensure that every student, regardless of circumstance, has access to enriching experiences that inspire curiosity, develop talents, build confidence, and foster a sense of belonging. Led by dedicated Savanna staff and supported by outstanding community partners, WINGS opens doors to new possibilities and helps students discover their interests while developing the skills they need for future success.

We’re proud to offer a program where students can truly Wonder, Inspire, Nurture, Grow, and Succeed.
