Savanna School District Standards
The mission of the Savanna School District is to provide a high-quality educational program that supports the academic, physical, social, and emotional growth of every student. Working in partnership with families and the community, we strive to create engaging learning environments that inspire curiosity, foster achievement, and empower students to reach their fullest potential. Our goal is to prepare all students for future learning experiences and success in an ever-changing world.
To achieve this mission, instruction throughout the District is aligned with the California State Standards, which establish clear expectations for what students should know and be able to do at each grade level. These standards emphasize critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving—skills that are essential for success in college, careers, and life.
Today's standards challenge students to think more deeply, analyze information from multiple sources, communicate their ideas effectively, and apply their learning to real-world situations. In English Language Arts, students engage with a wide variety of increasingly complex texts while strengthening their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. In mathematics, students develop conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, and the ability to solve complex problems using multiple strategies.
Our instructional programs are designed not only to help students master academic content, but also to help them become independent learners who can think critically, work collaboratively, and adapt to new challenges. Through rigorous and engaging learning experiences, students develop the skills and habits necessary to thrive in a rapidly changing global society.
Technology also plays an important role in supporting standards-based instruction. Students use digital tools to research, collaborate, create, and demonstrate their learning while developing important digital literacy skills. State assessments are administered online, providing students opportunities to apply their knowledge in technology-rich environments that mirror the demands of higher education and today's workforce.
At Savanna, we remain committed to continuous improvement and educational excellence. Our teachers regularly collaborate to analyze student progress, refine instructional practices, and ensure that every child receives the support and challenge necessary to succeed. By maintaining high expectations and providing meaningful learning opportunities, we are helping students build the knowledge, skills, confidence, and character they need to become successful lifelong learners.
